Ernie’s Auto Service is considered an essential business and is allowed to remain open during the current health emergency. If you are in need of car repairs, please do not hesitate to make an appointment or drop in during our normal business hours.

Ernie’s Auto Service is providing Contactless drop off and pick up service to established customers in the Zion, Winthrop Harbor, Beach Park and Waukegan area.
While your vehicle is in our care, we will be sanitizing your keys, using seat covers and steering wheel covers. Our Technicians have been practicing hand washing techniques during their vehicle interactions as well as wearing gloves when in contact with your vehicle. Our office staff will be providing the opportunity to pay by phone.

At Ernie’s Auto Service, the health and safety of our employees, customers and communities where we live and serve is a top priority.  As such, we are closely monitoring the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, and with local, state, and federal health administrations.

During this time of social distancing and extreme caution, we understand that our customers will be relying on their cars MORE THAN EVER. To date, we have taken several proactive measures to help ensure the health and safety of customers and employees. Some of these measures include:

  • Hand washing protocols with an increased focus on washing between each customer transaction.
  • Steering wheel covers and seat covers will be used on all vehicles entering the bays.
  • After repairs, we disinfect areas inside and outside your vehicle that the technicians touched that you will be touching, such as door handles, gear shift, mirror, seat adjustments and seat belt buckle.
  • Hand sanitizer will be utilized throughout our shop for customers and employees.
  • Disposable gloves will be used by technicians as needed.

For the health and safety of our staff and customers, we are encouraging DROP OFF appointments. We strongly discourage waiting in our small waiting room; we can offer shuttle service in the local area.  If you or a loved one aren’t feeling well, give us a call and we will happily reschedule your appointment to another day. Our employees have also been asked to stay home should they not feel well enough to come to work.

Rest assured, the safety of our employees and customers remains our top priority. The steps noted above are to protect both our employees and customers while remaining open. Please accept our thanks in advance for your help and understanding as we all work together during this challenging time.
